Unfold vs Microsoft PowerPoint: which one fits your presentation?
PowerPoint is the default a lot of audiences still expect a file from, and it has a deep animation toolset if you're willing to hand-build each effect, slide by slide, object by object. Unfold takes the opposite approach: pick a story type or gallery piece and it already moves, and the deliverable is a link that opens in any browser instead of a file someone needs the app — or a compatible viewer — to open. Unfold can still export a .pptx when a file is genuinely what's needed.
Microsoft PowerPoint is Microsoft's desktop-first presentation software.

Pick Unfold when…
- You want the deck to move without spending time animating each object by hand.
- You'd rather send a link than a file — no "which version do you have" back-and-forth.
- You're starting from scratch and want a story structure, not a blank slide.
Pick Microsoft PowerPoint when…
- Your audience specifically expects and will edit a .pptx file (Unfold exports one, but PowerPoint is still the native format).
- You're deep in the Microsoft 365, Teams and OneDrive ecosystem already.
- You need to keep editing fully offline, with no browser involved at all.
Questions people ask
Can I export an Unfold deck as a PowerPoint file?
Yes — the Studio's Export menu includes PowerPoint (.pptx), alongside PDF, PNG and a JSON deck file.
Can I import an existing .pptx into Unfold?
Not today. Unfold decks are built from its own schema, not parsed from PowerPoint files.
